Rick was a prolific musician and loved all types of music. He especially enjoyed attending performances at Anderson University and was an avid supporter of their Music Program. Seeing the aspiring musicians of SC was very special to him.

Rick's faith in Jesus was extremely important to him. He was an ordained minister in the Christian faith. He truly believed in this ministry's work and was in the process of recording an audiobook for them.
Rick was an amazing and passionate chess coach at Hampton Park Christian School where his daughter Clara attended. One of his pupils placed fourth in State Girls' Scholastic competition. Over 3 of his students gained 300 rating points just in the past chess season (including Clara!)
